Wendy Salabay (FS '09), process engineer for L’Oreal’s Corporate Industrial Quality, is mixing it up in the beauty world. Wendy along with a team of 4 other L’Oreal Engineers recently won L’Oreal highest award for “intrapreneurs”, thinking outside the box and bring new ideas to L’Oreal. The team beat out 622 other projects by creating a new way of processing outside the current vessels. This project contributes to the plant gaining agility, eliminating waste, and increasing quality while saving the L’Oreal plant in North Little Rock, Arkansas over half a million dollars last year and 8.6 tons of waste. The team was announced winners at the L’Oreal end of the year business review and awarded a $20,000 prize by the L’Oreal USA CEO and special celebrity guest Eva Longoria in New York City. Wendy says she is using her winnings to help support her cost of living outside of NYC (she always welcomes guests!) and to support her adventuring habit.
